The Leo Black Silk Sleep Mask is the print that started The Beauty Sleeper. The very first design, and the one that everything since has grown from.

Crafted from 100% mulberry silk and softly padded with natural wool, its generous shape blocks out unwanted light to create a cocoon of darkness around the eyes. Soft and comfortable against the skin, it is designed to help you settle into sleep and remain undisturbed by changes in light throughout the night and early morning.

Beautiful enough to leave on the pillow, comfortable enough to wear until morning.

Why Darkness Matters

Light is one of the most powerful signals the body uses to regulate our natural sleep-wake cycle. Even low levels of ambient light, from a streetlamp or early morning sun, can make complete darkness surprisingly difficult to find.

By blocking out unwanted light, a sleep mask creates a consistently dark environment that can help you settle into sleep and remain undisturbed by changes in light throughout the night and into the early morning.

Craftsmanship

Our pieces are designed in Copenhagen and handcrafted in small quantities by a family-run sewing studio in Shanghai, a city with a long tradition of working with silk.

We work closely with our Danish-based partner, who oversees the making of each piece. Every piece is carefully cut, sewn and finished by hand, with close attention to the details that make it comfortable to use and beautiful to live with, night after night.

For selected designs, we work with surplus and deadstock fabrics, allowing beautiful existing materials to find a new purpose.

Fabric & Care

This handcrafted sleep mask is made from 100% pure mulberry silk on both the exterior and lining, chosen for its exceptionally smooth, soft feel against the delicate skin around the eyes.

Our fabrics are digitally printed in small batches by our OEKO-TEX certified supplier using Azo dye-free inks and minimal water. A layer of natural wool sits between the silk, adding gentle insulation and giving the mask its softly padded, comfortable feel.

Silk and wool are naturally breathable fibres, helping the mask feel comfortable against the skin throughout the night.

Wash on a wool or silk programme at a maximum of 30°C using a specialist wool and silk detergent. Do not tumble dry. Lay flat or hang to dry away from direct sunlight. Iron on low heat if needed.

Shipping & Delivery

Free shipping is available on orders over DKK 2,000 within Denmark and €450 on international orders.

Orders placed before 12 noon on working days are dispatched the same day. Orders placed after 12 noon are dispatched within 1–3 working days.

In Denmark, orders dispatched on a working day are usually delivered the following working day.

The Leo Print

Against a deep black background, white herons move through pink lotus flowers and tall green stems, with small details of colour appearing throughout the print.

Leo Black was the first print created for The Beauty Sleeper, and the beginning of what would become our archive of printed silks.

It was the design that first captured the idea behind the brand: that a sleep mask could be both something you use every night and something beautiful enough to leave on the bedside table.

Rather than rubbing or pulling as you move during the night, the silk glides softly against the skin. Our Silk Sleep Masks are lined with 100% pure mulberry silk, so only the smooth silk sits directly against your face.

Yes. The Silk Sleep Mask is generously shaped and softly padded to provide comfortable coverage around the eyes and block out unwanted light.

Why Choose a Silk Sleep Mask Instead of Cotton?

Wash your Silk Sleep Mask on a wool or silk programme at a maximum of 30°C using a specialist wool and silk detergent. We recommend placing it in a washing bag for extra protection and washing it separately from heavier items.
